A three-star point guard, Duarte (6-foot-5, 190) is considered by 247sports as the fifth-best player in the state of New York. He spent the 2016-17 season at Redemption Christian Academy in Troy, N.Y., and has played with the New York Lightning AAU program.

Born in Montreal and raised in the Dominican Republic, Duarte reportedly has scholarship offers from Hofstra, Monmouth, New Mexico State, Old Dominion, Saint Louis, Seton Hall and Saint Bonaventure. He also reportedly visited Syracuse twice.

Duarte played in the Jordan Brand Classic regional game in April.

Duarte will join November signees Mitchell Robinson, Josh Anderson and Taveion Hollingsworth and spring signees Jordan Brangers and Jake Ohmer and recent commit Marek Nelson. Buffalo transfer Lamonte Bearden, Austin Peay transfer Jared Savage, Northwest Florida State transfer Moustpaha Diagne and freshman enrollee Robinson Idehen will also be a part of the team, as well as walk-on Miles Weber.
