Everyone’s talking about the cinema release of Allied (out now) but why? Well, it may be because it’s the film that put Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard under serious media scrutiny during the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie divorce.
The romantic thriller is suspiciously akin to Mr. and Mrs. Smith but instead of being set in modern day, it starts off in North Africa, 1942, in the middle of World War II. Brad plays a broody Canadian intelligence officer Max and Marion stars as charming French Resistance fighter Marianne. They get assigned to the same dangerous behind-enemy-lines mission and they may/may not fall in love… (OK. Fine. They do.)
Here’s everything you need to know about Allied…
-The first half of the film is set in Casablanca, Morocco, and will give you serious wanderlust thanks to scenes of the pair drinking cognac on the starlit summer Moroccan rooftops and panoramic desert shots. Expect some interior envy of Marion’s Moroccan apartment, too.
