A new tabloid report claims that the sole purpose of
Brad Pitt’s recent press tour was to repair his image in the wake of his divorce from
Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this inaccurate story.
For the first time since his high-profile split last year, the actor stepped back into the spotlight this month – giving candid interviews to GQ and the Associated Press – and appearing in a sketch for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” But OK!
OK!is now claiming the only reason Pitt is making rounds in the media is to fix his reputation following accusations of child abuse and alcohol problems.
“Brad is afraid that people see him as some kind of monster now, so he’s eager to remind fans that he’s still that sensitive, affable, goofy dude they used to know,” a supposed “source” tells the magazine. “Brad wants people to know that he’s been humbled by the past few months. He’s dead set on making a sort of public mea culpa.”
Pitt did in fact open up in GQ about seeking therapy, getting sober, putting “family first” and becoming a better father, but the interview wasn’t conducted to help repair his image. The actor graced the cover of the magazine to promote his new Netflix movie War Machine, but he also didn’t shy away from discussing his personal life. Pitt’s “Late Show” sketch was also intended to raise awareness for War Machine, and the outlet’s assertion that he’s only doing publicity to save face is simply wrong.
Gossip Cop is also told by a reliable source close to the situation that the magazine’s claim is inaccurate.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to call out OK! for publishing a bogus report about the actor’s post-split life. We recently debunked the tabloid’s phony story about Pitt suffering a health crisis as a result of his stressful divorce. There was no truth to that claim, and the same goes for this latest one.
